Origins of Ruई(Ruii)
In May 2016, my mother Shivani and her cousin Jaai founded Vastram, starting with designer patchwork dupattas and unique handmade jewellery. I soon joined them, and together, we infused our collection with a blend of traditional craftsmanship and contemporary design, expanding our offerings to include premium patchwork sarees by 2018. When the lockdown in 2020 challenged our operations, we took our rare finds to Instagram and transformed Vastram into Ruii, a name inspired by my sister Rucha and myself, Isha. At Ruii we believe in sustainability, creating opportunities, and crafting joy with each exquisite saree. Today, with thousands of followers on Instagram, Ruii is eager to grow and share its motto, "Happiness is handmade," further across India and the world. Each piece we create is a testament to the beauty and dedication of artisanal craft, promising joy with every purchase.
